Hacksaw Gaming is a relatively new name on the online slot scene. This Swedish-based developer is better known for its Scratch Cards, with over 30 games under their belt already. Recently, Hacksaw has been devoting more of its energies to slots and has released several titles, including a sequel to this game. But the Stick ‘Em slot was the developer’s first foray into online slots and the game we will review here.

When you open the game, the graphics seem to lack polish and sophistication. Then you realise they are all done in a retro-cartoon style, and the symbols all make clever references to the Roaring ’20s of the last century.

Canny the Can, a friendly animated figure, stands beside the grid pulling faces in response to the action on the reels. There are 1024 ways to form winning combinations on the 5×4 grid as prizes are awarded for three or more matching symbols anywhere on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost.

There are a total of 10 regular symbols to form line wins with, but, it has to be said, the payouts for these are a bit disappointing. The maximum possible line win is 3x the bet for 5 swag bags across the grid. But the game does have a couple of bonus features, including a Free Spins round, where big win multipliers come into play to boost the win potential.

Game Features

Hacksaw Gaming like to keep it straightforward regarding gameplay, which is reflected in the bonus features of Stick Em. There are three of these, all of which can lead to big wins.

The first triggers when 3 Bonus Game scatter symbols land on the grid, which can only happen in the base game. The Bonus Game itself is a Wheel of Fortune that players spin for prizes of up to 1000x the bet.

The free spins trigger with 5, 10, or 15 spins when 3, 4, or 5 of the symbol that says Free Spins are in view. During the round, the gameplay is the same as in the base game, but the player is guaranteed extra premium symbols will land on the reels.

The big bonus feature of the Stick’ Em slot is the sticky win spin feature. This is triggered when a winning combination of the thumbs-up symbol lands. The triggering symbols stick and the reels respin. Any new thumbs-up symbols landing also stick and grant another respin, and the game’s top prize of 2,048x the bet can be won in this round.
