Switzerland Is Set to Issue Two Additional Casino Licenses

The Two New Swiss Casino Licenses

Switzerland is ready to incorporate two new types of casino licenses. This decision comes after the country’s Federal Council gave the green light for the creation of two additional licensing regions.

Before these practices became legal, Switzerland had a total of 21 casino licenses. Each of them represents a different region in the featured country. However, the Swiss Federal Gaming Board (ESBK) decided to submit a report to the Swiss Federal Council.

It also included certain recommendations to modernise the system in the country. The Swiss Federal Gaming Board (ESBK) is the regulatory body in the country that overlooks gambling activities in Switzerland.

As part of the ESBK’s report, there were the inclusion of two new regions into the Money Gaming Act. Those two new regions were Winterthur and Lausanne. As part of the changes, all 21 casinos will remain as they were in the new map.

The two new casinos will acquire Class A licenses, which come without any limitations on stakes. This will make the total number of Class A licensees up to 10.

The other 13 operators that operate in Switzerland hold Class B licenses. With these licenses, the operators must restrict the players’s stakes to a maximum of CHF25 on their slot machines.

It’s worth mentioning that only certain casino establishments can acquire a Class A license. This includes those operators that can make more than CHF30 million in revenues annually.

A tender process for applications for the featured new licenses will take place in May. However, the organizers will announce the winning licenses in the autumn.

The land-based operators in Switzerland are also free to offer online gaming services to their customers. However, they can only do that via partnership deals with licensed online operators.
