Crystal Burst XXL is one of Gamomat’s newest video slots, first released in 2020. It is designed around a unique 5-reel, 4-row format with 40 paylines in play.

These paylines are “fixed” in place, meaning adjusting them is impossible. As a result, the minimum bet is 0.4 credits, and the maximum bet is 120 credits. The minimum bet is quite high and may be a turn-off for lower-staking players.

Crystal Burst XXL has an RTP of 96.16%, just above the industry average. There’s win potential of up to 1,500X your bet – which isn’t the biggest in the world, but to be expected when you consider that Crystal Burst XXL is a low-variance video slot.

Like many Gamomat games, Crystal Burst XXL is pretty basic in design; the slot’s theme is based around fruits and conventional slot machine symbols. These include Cherries, Lemons, Oranges, Grapes, Watermelons, Bells, and a Red 7. The latter is the highest-paying symbol, awarding a payout of 125X your stake for a 5-of-a-kind combo. To put this into perspective, a 5-of-a-kind combo of the lowest-value symbol – the Cherry – pays just 0.5X your bet!

However, we should point out that Crystal Burst XXL does use a win-both-ways mechanic. This means you can form wins from left to right and right to left. Essentially, this doubles the number of paylines from 40 to 80.

Game Features

Unfortunately, Crystal Burst XXL doesn’t have much to offer when it comes to bonuses and features. The only feature you’ll find is the “Re-Spins” mechanic, and it’s basically a complete copy of Netent’s Starburst. If you land one of the special Gem symbols on the middle three reels, that Gem will expand to cover the entire reel. It will then lock in place, and a re-spin is awarded.

If, on this re-spin, you manage to land another Gem symbol, it will also expand – and one additional re-spin will be awarded. This continues until you land three Gems – at which point the middle three reels will be completely wild – or until you fail to land any new Gems.

While there can be some decent win potential if you manage to get all three middle reels wild, this is an infrequent event – and you’re relying on the Red 7 or Bell symbols forming 5-of-a-kind combos. We were also disappointed to see that Crystal Burst XXL doesn’t offer a gamble feature, a common trait in most of Gamomat’s video slots.
