However, unlike other video slots, Steaming Reels uses a win-both-ways mechanic. This means wins can be formed from left to right and right to left. The game boasts a maximum win of 15,000X, and the RTP is 92.16%, far lower than we’d prefer to see.

There are five low-value symbols – and they’re all Steam Punk-inspired. You’ll find a pair of gloves, a compass, a globe, a pistol, and a blimp. A 5-of-a-kind combo of the low-value symbols pays between 30X and 60X your stake.

There are also five higher-paying symbols in Steaming Reels; these are all different characters, and all five of the higher-paying symbols are stacked on all five reels. Forming a 5-of-a-kind combo will award you a payout of between 80X and 100X your stake.

There’s also a wild symbol – which substitutes for all other symbols in the game bar the scatter symbols – but it has a special feature, so we will cover that in the following section of this review.

Game Features

Steaming Reels offers two bonus features – a wild multiplier and a main free spins round. The wild multiplier appears in both the base game and free spins, multiplying wins by 2X, 5X, or 10X.

If any of these wild multiplier symbols land in view – and form part of a winning payline – the multiplier attached to the wild will apply to your win. It’s not the most unique bonus we’ve ever seen, but it’s a nice touch – and it injects an element of action into the base game.

The main free spins round is triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols anywhere in view. This will grant you a payout of 3X your bet and 10 free spins. The free spins use the same reels and wild multipliers, which is a little boring – and we’d like to have seen some wild reels of special symbols added.

Nonetheless, the free spins bonus round can be indefinitely re-triggered by landing more scatter symbols – and there’s no upper limit on the number of free spins that can be won, so you can keep spinning for ages if you re-trigger the bonus enough times! The wild multipliers are also present during the free spins, although they don’t appear to land more frequently than during the base game.
